The Student Visa allows individuals aged 16 and above to study full-time in the UK. If you are planning to pursue education at a recognised institution, this visa will enable you to stay in the UK for the duration of your course. If you are on a full-time postgraduate course (RQF Level 7 or above) lasting 9 months or longer, your family (partner or children under 18) may join you in the UK. Similarly, new Government-Sponsored students or those on the Doctorate Extension Scheme may also bring their family members if their course lasts longer than 6 months.

Why Apply for a Student Visa?
The Student Visa is necessary for international students who have an offer of a place on a course at a licensed sponsor. It ensures that you can focus on your studies in the UK and also allows you to bring your dependents if eligible. Key uses for this visa include:
✔ Studying at a licensed UK university, school, or college.
✔ Bringing your partner or children to live with you if eligible.
✔ Accessing opportunities to extend your stay if you continue your education in the UK.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for a Student Visa, you must meet the following criteria:
Genuine Student – You must show that you are a legitimate student and intend to study in the UK.
Offer from a Licensed Sponsor – You must have received an offer to study a full-time course at a recognised institution, approved by a licensed student sponsor.
Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) – A CAS issued by your licensed sponsor confirming your place on the course.
Course Requirements – Your chosen course must meet the criteria outlined in Appendix Student of the Immigration Rules.
Financial Evidence – You must have enough funds to cover both your living expenses and course fees. Certain applicants may be exempt from financial requirements if they are from a country listed under the differential evidence rule.
English Language Requirement – You must meet the required English proficiency level.
Parental Consent – If you are aged 16 or 17, you need parental consent for your application.
Tuberculosis (TB) Certificate – If you are from a country listed in Appendix T of the Immigration Rules, you must provide a valid TB certificate.

When Must I Apply for a Student Visa?
If applying from outside the UK – You can apply up to 6 months before your course starts.
