Service Supplier Visa

The Service Supplier visa is part of the Global Business Mobility (GBM) Visa category, designed for overseas workers or self-employed professionals providing services to a UK business under a contract covered by a valid international trade agreement. This visa enables individuals to fulfil contractual obligations in the UK.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Service Supplier visa, applicants must:

  • Employment Status: Be either an employee of an overseas business or a self-employed service provider based overseas.
  • Contractual Agreement: Have a contract to provide services to a UK business, with the service covered by a valid international trade agreement.
  • Job Role: Perform an eligible job. If the job is not listed as eligible, applicants may still qualify if they possess relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Certificate of Sponsorship: Obtain a certificate from the UK sponsor detailing the work to be undertaken in the UK.
  • Work Experience: Have worked for the employer outside the UK for at least 12 months, or possess at least 12 months of professional experience if self-employed.

Application Process

The application involves two steps:

  1. Certificate of Sponsorship: The UK sponsor must issue a certificate confirming the role, contractual details, and eligibility.
  2. Visa Application: Submit an online visa application with supporting documents, including proof of employment or self-employment, contractual agreements, and evidence of maintenance funds if required.

Processing times vary; applicants should check the latest guidelines for current processing times.

Visa Duration and Conditions

The duration of stay in the UK depends on the specific trade agreement under which services are provided. Applicants can stay for the shorter of:

  • 6 or 12 months, depending on the applicable trade agreement.
  • The time specified on the Certificate of Sponsorship plus 14 days.

The maximum stay on a Service Supplier visa is either 6 or 12 months, contingent upon the relevant trade agreement.

Fees and Maintenance Funds

  • Application Fees: £259 per person for the visa.
  • Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS): £1,035 per year for each applicant and dependent.
  • Maintenance Funds: £1,270 for the main applicant, plus:
    • £285 for a partner.
    • £315 for a first child.
    • £200 for each additional child.

These maintenance requirements may be waived if the sponsor certifies maintenance on the Certificate of Sponsorship.

Bringing Family Members to the UK

The visa allows applicants to bring their spouse or partner and dependent children. Each family member must apply separately, pay the visa fee, and demonstrate evidence of maintenance funds unless the sponsor certifies their maintenance.
