Replacing the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) Visa on 20 February 2020, this visa offers a flexible pathway to live and work in the UK.
Bringing Family Members to the UK
✔ You can bring your spouse/partner and dependent children to the UK.
✔ You must demonstrate £608 per family member in available funds.
✔ The Immigration Healthcare Surcharge must be paid for each dependent.
Application Process
The Global Talent Visa application involves two key stages:
Stage 1 – Endorsement
Before applying, you must secure an endorsement proving that you are a leader or potential leader in your field. This involves an application to one of the six endorsing bodies approved by the Home Office:
✔ The Royal Society – Natural & medical sciences
✔ The Royal Academy of Engineering – Engineering
✔ The British Academy – Humanities & social sciences
✔ Tech Nation – Digital technology
✔ Arts Council England – Arts & culture
✔ UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) – Research applicants
Each endorsing body has specific criteria, and endorsement processing typically takes up to 8 weeks.
Stage 2 – Home Office Immigration Application
Once endorsed, you can apply for a Global Talent Visa.
✔ Standard processing: 3 weeks
✔ Faster processing: Available for an additional fee
Visa Duration & Pathway to Settlement
✔ The Global Talent Visa is valid for 3 or 5 years.
✔ After 3 years, you may be eligible for Settlement (Indefinite Leave to Remain – ILR).
✔ Dependents are eligible for settlement after 5 years.
✔ Once settled, you may apply for British Citizenship.
