Eligibility Requirements

  • Ancestral Ties: You must have at least one grandparent born in one of the following locations:
    • The UK, including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
    • On a British-registered ship or aircraft.
    • Before 31 March 1922, in what is now the Republic of Ireland.
  • Financial Requirement: You must have enough funds to support and house yourself and any dependants without relying on public funds.
  • Work Intentions: You must be able and planning to work in the UK.

It is important to note that UK ancestry cannot be claimed through step-parents.

 

Bringing Dependants

Your spouse, civil partner, unmarried partner, same-sex partner, or children under 18 can apply to join you as dependants. They will have the right to live, study, and work in the UK for the duration of your visa.

 

Path to Permanent Settlement

After five years on a UK Ancestry Visa, you may apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), provided you meet the residency and eligibility requirements.
