If you’re planning to study in the UK as a child student, the Child Student Visa allows you to stay for the duration of your course. The application process can be complicated, and with frequent refusals due to insufficient documentation, it’s essential to have expert guidance to ensure your application meets all requirements. At JNS Solicitors’, we carefully prepare your application, address potential concerns, and ensure you submit all necessary evidence. Whether you’re applying for your initial visa or seeking an extension, we provide comprehensive support throughout the process.

Why Apply for a Child Student Visa?
The Child Student Visa is designed for children between the ages of 4 and 17 who wish to study at an independent school in the UK. You may need this visa if you have an offer from a licensed student sponsor (an independent school) and plan to undertake a course that meets the Home Office requirements. It’s important to note that the Child Student Visa is specifically for academic courses and does not allow employment or work-related activities during your stay.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for a Child Student Visa, you must meet the following criteria:
Genuine Student – You must prove that you are a genuine student who intends to study in the UK.
Offer from a Licensed Sponsor – You must have been offered a place at an independent school that is a licensed student sponsor.
Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) – You need a CAS from the licensed sponsor confirming your place on the course.
Financial Evidence – You must show you have enough money to support yourself and pay for your course. This includes evidence that you’ve held the required funds for at least 28 days before applying. If you meet the differential evidence requirement, you may not need to show financial evidence.
Parental Consent – You must have parental or legal guardian consent for your stay.
Qualification Evidence – You must provide proof of the qualifications you used to obtain your offer from the licensed student sponsor.
Tuberculosis (TB) Test – If you’re from a country listed in Appendix T of the Immigration Rules, you must provide a valid TB certificate.

When to Apply for a Child Student Visa
If applying from outside the UK – You can apply no more than 6 months before the start of your course.
If applying from within the UK – You should apply no more than 3 months before your course start date. Once you receive your CAS from your licensed sponsor, you must apply for your Child Student Visa within 6 months.
